Multi-camera Streaming Video Security System

The client developers and manufacturers network video solutions for professional video surveillance and security applications.
The client was looking to design a new product family that included three different designs for security recorder devices for different sized installations. The units would support 4, 8 or 16 video cameras on Power-over-Ethernet (POE) ports. The basic hardware processing system would be common in order to support common software.
RightHand Technologies provided the engineering services to build the hardware platform and the mechanical design of the enclosures. The hardware included three custom COM/Express Carrier Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) to be incorporated into proprietary video recording systems. The three carriers are differentiated by the number of Ethernet ports that are supported. Four, eight, and sixteen port versions were implemented. The circuit board design met the "Power over Ethernet" (POE) requirements for each carrier, and supported the Windows Embedded Operating System.
The carrier board design supported a PICMG COM Express Type 2 COMX-430/440 module from Emerson Network Power and a 2.5" SATA hard disk drive mounted on the carrier board.
RightHand Technologies designed and assembled prototype units that were field tested with the client's applications. The testing proved successful, and the security recording device is currently being manufactured at the RightHand Technologies factory.
